The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) has selected Owensboro, Kentucky, as the host city for the ACO World Championships of Cornhole Season 21, scheduled to take place July 20-25, 2026, at the Owensboro Convention Center. This marks the third time the organization has chosen Owensboro to host its premier annual tournament event.
The six-day championship event represents the culmination of the ACO's competitive season, bringing together top-ranked cornhole players from across the nation and internationally to compete for world titles across multiple divisions. The tournament will feature professional, amateur, and adaptive divisions, along with vendor exhibitions, player meet-and-greets, and family-friendly activities. Spectator admission remains free for all tournament days.
The announcement comes as the ACO continues to expand its reach through digital platforms, with ACO Cornhole Live 24/7 streaming tournament coverage and educational content to audiences worldwide. The organization's broadcasting initiative has transformed how fans engage with competitive cornhole, providing continuous access to matches, player interviews, and behind-the-scenes coverage throughout the tournament season.
"Owensboro has proven itself as an exceptional host city for our world championships, providing the facilities, hospitality, and enthusiasm that make this event special for both competitors and fans," said Frank Geers, Founder of the American Cornhole Organization. "The Owensboro Convention Center offers the space and amenities we need to accommodate thousands of players and spectators, while the community's support creates an atmosphere that celebrates the sport at its highest level."
The ACO World Championships serve as the flagship event for the organization's ACO Sport of Cornhole Membership program, which connects thousands of players globally through sanctioned tournaments, official rankings, and exclusive competitive opportunities. Members gain access to qualifying events throughout the season that determine seeding and placement for the world championships.
The selection of Owensboro reinforces the city's growing reputation as a destination for major sporting events. The convention center's 96,000 square feet of event space will accommodate multiple courts for simultaneous matches, vendor areas, and spectator seating. The facility's location in downtown Owensboro provides convenient access to hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues for visiting players and fans.
Founded in 2005, the American Cornhole Organization serves as the official governing body for the sport of cornhole worldwide. The organization maintains standardized rules, certifies equipment, sanctions tournaments at all competitive levels, and manages world rankings for professional and amateur players. Through its comprehensive tournament structure, which includes the ACO Majors Tour, ACO Pro Series and Pro Series Skins Tour, State Championships, adaptive divisions and the ACO Level Up System, players skills are balanced to deliver a more competitive experience. The ACO has transformed cornhole from a recreational activity into a structured competitive sport with opportunities for players of all skill levels and abilities.
The ACO has also strengthened its community engagement through social media platforms, with the ACO Facebook Family serving as a central hub for tournament updates, player spotlights, and sport development initiatives. This digital community has become instrumental in connecting players, sharing tournament information, and building excitement for major events like the world championships.
