One year after opening its historic new facility, VFW Post 3285 reports 10% membership growth as Contour Construction receives ABC Greater Baltimore's Diamond Excellence in Construction Award.

FREDERICK, Md., Nov. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- One year after moving into its historic new facility, John R. Webb VFW Post 3285 in Frederick is celebrating increased membership and community involvement. At the same time, Contour Construction, the Frederick-based contractor entrusted with bringing the project to life, has received the 2026 Diamond Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Greater Baltimore.

The 9,000-square-foot facility made history as the first newly constructed VFW post in the United States in more than 20 years. At the heart of the project was a partnership between VFW leadership and Contour Construction, built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to creating a lasting home for Frederick's veterans. That collaboration helped deliver the facility 40 days ahead of its contractual schedule.

"I wanted us to build something worthy of the men and women who have served our country. A place that honors their service, supports their families, and will be there for the next generation of veterans. Being trusted with that responsibility mattered to me, and I'm proud of what our team delivered," said Chris Parsell, CEO of Contour Construction.

Since moving into the new facility, Post 3285 reports 10% membership growth and increased participation. Post Commander Darryl Warren described the organization's resurgence, recalling that in 2018, meetings barely reached a quorum. Today, meetings can draw 70 to 80 attendees, often leaving standing room only.

Speaking about the organization's future during a recent podcast interview, Post Adjutant Patrick Pierson said, "This post is going to exist for at least another 50 to 100 years because of the amount of involvement we've now gotten after the building was built."

Contour Construction received the Diamond Award during ABC Greater Baltimore's October 21 Excellence in Construction ceremony, recognizing the team's work on the historic project. The award carries additional significance as Contour celebrates its 20th anniversary in business this October.

"ABC represents the best of this industry to me. The people and companies it brings together quite literally build the places that make our communities better. Having our work recognized by an organization I respect that much means a great deal," said Parsell.

Together, the VFW's growth and Contour's industry recognition reflect a partnership whose impact continues well beyond construction, strengthening an organization dedicated to serving Frederick's veterans for generations to come.
