The exhibition's second edition at the NYCxDesign Festival presents 60 works by artists and designers from across Asia and North America, organized by VSDesign in partnership with RAC Studio and Asia Design Week
NEW YORK, NY, May 20, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fractured Horizons: Imaging After Images, the second edition of VSDesign's international exhibition series at the NYCxDesign Festival, concluded its weeklong run in New York. Officially selected as an International Spotlight Program of the NYCxDesign Festival for the second consecutive year, the exhibition extends as a stage on which the vanguard creative voices of Asia engage a global audience. Organized by VSDesign in partnership with RAC Studio and Asia Design Week, the 2026 edition built on the foundation laid by 2025 inaugural exhibition on post-industrial and post-human futures, and turned its attention to a sharper question: what happens when images no longer simply describe space, but actively produce, operate, and regulate it.
Shifting focus from representation to production, Fractured Horizons: Imaging After Images gathered 60 works spanning architecture, urbanism, product design, visual communication, and interactive media - disciplines in which image systems have become foundational to spatial logic. Interfaces, parameters, resolutions, and predictive models no longer serve as auxiliary tools, but as the conditions under which space is now imagined and built. From AI-generated environments and computational visualizations to drawings, models, simulations, moving images, and mixed media, the participating works treat the image as a spatial mechanism rather than a neutral surface.
"Images today no longer simply depict space - they construct it, regulate it, and quietly decide what is possible within it," said the curatorial team. "Fractured Horizons: Imaging After Images gathers the artists and designers willing to treat the image not as a window onto the world, but as the very mechanism through which the world is now built."
The exhibition was presented as part of the NYCxDesign Festival 2026, one of the most influential global platforms for contemporary design, and convened a transnational community of designers, artists, and researchers from across Asia and North America.
The 2026 edition reflects VSDesign's continued commitment to surfacing emerging cross-cultural voices at the points where design, technology, and culture intersect.
