Nootropics Depot Publishes Retail Market Research Measuring 68 Products Across 8 Ingredients

PR Newswire

The analytical lab bought competing products the way a customer would, logged the lot, and measured the bioactive each ingredient's research is built on, running Nootropics Depot products in the same batch by the same method.

TEMPE, Ariz., Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nootropics Depot has published its retail market research in one place, a comparison of 68 retail products across 8 ingredients measured by its analytical lab in Tempe. The lab bought competing products the way a customer would, from their own stores or marketplaces with no brand-supplied samples, logged each lot, and measured the bioactive each ingredient's research is built on, running Nootropics Depot products in the same batch by the same method. The full named results are available at https://nootropicsdepot.com/market-research-how-the-competition-compares/ .

Erinacine A per capsule across 11 retail lion's mane products. Erinamax measured 2.6mg, 32 times the highest competing product; six of ten measured none (Q2 2025).

Results are reported per dose or per capsule, and for Tongkat Ali and Cistanche also as cost per milligram at the retail prices paid. Of the 68 products measured, 15 are Nootropics Depot products. Every product measured appears on its chart.

"We buy competing products off the same shelves our customers shop from, and we measure them with the same methods we use on our own," said Paul Eftang, CEO of Nootropics Depot. "Once you multiply a label percentage through the actual dose, you can see which products deliver the compound the research was done on. Customers deserve to see that math, so we published it."

In the Tongkat Ali set tested in Q1 2025, measured by UPLC across 11 products, the Nootropics Depot 10 percent extract measured 12.00mg eurycomanone per dose, the highest in the set and 2.3 times the highest competing product at 5.29mg, at about a third of its cost per milligram. One competing product measured no eurycomanone; two measured under 0.35mg.

In the Cistanche tubulosa set tested in Q2 2025 across 8 products, the Nootropics Depot supercritical CO2 extract measured 53.1mg verbascoside per dose, 13 times the highest competing product at 4.1mg, and the Nootropics Depot Ultra Potent measured 110.5mg echinacoside, 2.2 times the highest competing product at 50.4mg. On one marker, a competing Cistanche product measured higher, 50.4mg echinacoside against Nootropics Depot Full Spectrum's 45.9mg, though Full Spectrum is standardized for breadth rather than a single marker. That row is on the chart with the rest.

In the Tribulus terrestris and Dioscorea nipponica set tested in Q4 2025 across 8 products, protodioscin measured 166mg in the Dioscorea product, 120mg in the Tribulus product and 73mg in Tribugen per capsule, and was not detected in any of the 5 competing products.

Erinamax lion's mane, measured by UPLC across 11 products in Q2 2025, erinacine A measured 2.6mg per capsule, 32 times the highest competing product at 0.08mg, and 6 of 10 competing products measured none. Most lion's mane on the market is fruiting body, which is not expected to carry erinacine A because that compound is found in the mycelium; Erinamax is grown in liquid-culture bioreactors.

In the beta-ecdysterone set tested in Q3 2025 across 7 products, the Nootropics Depot 50 percent measured 262.3mg per capsule, 2.47 times the highest competing product at 106mg, and 2 of 6 competing products measured none. In the saffron set tested in Q3 2025 across 8 products, Nootropics Depot saffron measured 2.3mg crocins and 0.8mg safranal per capsule, the highest of both in the set and 1.97 times the crocins of the next product, with 3 of 7 competing products measuring neither compound. That was the previous saffron extract; Nootropics Depot has since launched Safralis, whole Mongra saffron standardized to 8 percent crocins and 3 percent safranals, its highest saffron standardization to date.

In the black ginger set tested in Q4 2025 across 8 products, Nootropics Depot measured 12.15 percent 5,7-dimethoxyflavone, 2.31 times the next product at 5.26 percent; every product in this set carried some.

"We put every product we tested on the charts, including the one place a competitor measured more than we did," Eftang said. "Anyone can check our numbers against the certificate of analysis for every batch we sell. I would like to see more brands buy their competitors' products, test them and publish what they find, because that is how this industry earns trust."

Every Nootropics Depot number links to a certificate of analysis for every batch the company sells. The same standard runs back to the raw material: when Nootropics Depot tried to verify its own Ecklonia cava supply, no validated DNA reference material existed for the species, so it built one with a Korean university and a specialized DNA lab. This comparison follows the recent launch of Safralis and the company's ongoing analytical standards work.
