SÃO PAULO, Brazil, Oct. 8, 2026 /CNW/ -- Turnkey, SENAR-SP, and FAESP have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a technical cooperation framework for a digital agriculture pilot project in the Tupã region of São Paulo, Brazil.

The project will evaluate how private wireless connectivity, IoT sensors, and digital agriculture applications can support rural producers by improving data collection, operational visibility, productivity, sustainability, and farm-level decision-making.
The project will use Turnkey's KYRO portable private wireless network platform to support agricultural connectivity and sensor-based applications. The pilot is expected to demonstrate use cases ranging from crop, livestock, and environmental monitoring to agricultural equipment telemetry and smart irrigation.
The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in São Paulo has facilitated engagement between the participating organizations as part of its mandate to help Canadian companies explore international commercial opportunities and build strategic relationships in Brazil.
"Brazil's agricultural sector presents significant opportunities for Canadian technology companies that can address real-world challenges. By helping connect Turnkey with leading institutions such as FAESP/SENAR-SP we aim to create pathways for collaboration that generate value for both countries. This pilot demonstrates how international partnerships can support innovation, productivity, and sustainable growth in the agricultural sector," said Joanne Lemay, Consul General of Canada in São Paulo.
"Brazil is one of the world's most important agricultural markets, and the need for reliable rural connectivity is significant," said Terry Joseph, President and CEO, Turnkey. "This pilot gives us the opportunity to demonstrate how private wireless infrastructure and IoT applications can support better data collection, stronger field visibility, and more resilient rural operations."
Through the MOU, SENAR-SP and FAESP will support the initiative by helping facilitate access to pilot locations, engaging local producers, and supporting site access and logistics. They will also assist with training, knowledge transfer, and institutional coordination.
The location selected for the pilot project is Fazenda Santa Inácia, in Tupã, and the project is expected to begin in the second half of January. The pilot will also test field network performance and sensor integration in a real agricultural environment. This will help assess the potential for future expansion across additional agricultural regions through the SENAR-SP and FAESP networks.
"Connectivity is one of the key pillars for bringing innovation to the agricultural sector and strengthening producers' ability to make data-driven decisions. We expect the pilot project in Tupã to deliver concrete results and help develop solutions that can be scaled to other regions. This work will also contribute to the Faesp/Senar System's Centres of Excellence, which will focus on strategic areas to accelerate agricultural innovation and bring new technologies closer to the real needs of rural producers," said Tirso Meirelles, President of the Faesp/Senar System.
If successful, the parties may evaluate broader deployment opportunities to support rural producers across São Paulo State and other agricultural regions.
